Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an extremely effective way to treat muscular aches and pains, sports injuries and degenerative problems.  Acupuncture not only provides pain relief, but it encourages the natural healing process in your body.

Acupuncture is a vital tool in todays atheletes, with most professionals utilising this ancient medicine.  It can reduce muscle spasm, increase circulation, reduce swelling, reduce bruising, and heal tissue.  It is also great for breaking down calcification, healing tears, reducing lactic acid build up and helping muscle recovery.

Most treatments will include Tui na (traditional chinese massage) as well as acupuncture, and recommendations for stretching or exercise therapy will be discussed.

Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture can also improve an athletes vitality and reduce fatigue.

Massage
About Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is a firm, but relaxing, massage designed to help with muscular aches and pains.  Remedial Massage also improves circulation, helps with lymphatic drainage, aids joint mobility and relaxes tight muscles.

A combination of styles is often used to alleviate pain, tension and loss of mobility.  Stretching and other exercises may also be suggested to help prevent the return of symptoms.

Although generally firmer than 'Swedish' or relaxation style massages, be sure to keep your Therapist informed as to your personal comfort levels (pressure, temperature etc) to ensure your treatment is as rewarding as possible.

Massage Includes

30 Minutes - Allows enough time to concentrate on one area - ie Back/Neck/Shoulders

60 Minutes - Allows enough time to massage a general full body or concentrate on a number of areas

90 Minutes - Allows enough time for a complete full body massage  - covering any areas of tension or concern.  Feet and Head treatments may be added into this timeframe quite easily

Pregnancy massage

A specialised treatment for our Mothers to be - this therapy can alleviate such symptoms as: fluid retention, aching legs and ankles, lower back pain and simply give Mum some 'Me' time in what can be one of the most rewarding, but overwhelming, events in her life.

Using a selection of gentle techniques and movements, the aim is relaxation of both physical and emotional stresses.

Caution must be taken, especially within the first Trimester and with anyone with a history of pregnancy problems (miscarriage, hi blood pressure etc) and certain areas must be treated with more care than others - lower back and sacrum, abdomin and specific points on the feet and the tops of the shoulders.

This treatment can be performed with our Mum lying down, on her side or even in a seated position dependant on the length of term and her personal comfort.  Essential oils are often used to enhance the massage - such as lavender and sweet orange - but if any doubts or concerns, a plain massage oil will be used.

Not all therapists are qualified to perform this treatment and we recommend you enquire at time of booking as to individual training and experience.
